‘Reading Hour’ was conceived as a “good read” of short pieces – a combination of short fiction, verse, essays of general interest, interviews and reviews with a certain standard and style of writing. It is targeted at a wide reading, book-loving audience. The success of such easy reads with short pieces in vernacular languages indicates the potential for our kind of magazine.
Reading Hour is not “theme-driven” – each issue is an entertaining mix of stories and other pieces, sourced from a variety of authors and ranging over a variety of topics. Our authors are primarily Indian, writing about Indian contexts and experiences. The magazine also carries translations.
Reading Hour has repeat read value, so it has a longer shelf life than the average magazine. It is targeted at the 18+ English literate who reads for leisure. We believe we offer an opportunity to engage a difficult to reach audience through a medium which has above average intensity of engagement.
Reading Hour is a bi-monthly print magazine published out of Bangalore, uniquely produced and distributed in major cities across India. We have subscriptions as well. It is a 60 page magazine, 18cm X 24cm.
